Begin with a sound you love. A few notes. A voice. A little rhythm. Give it space, then see where it wants to go.
Let something flow.
Place Shabu Shabu Reverb in an audio effect slot in a compatible AUv3 music host, such as AUM or Logic Pro. Send a sound through it. The included app provides the guide and support; audio processing happens in your music host.
Start with しゃぶしゃぶ, the first preset. Let a few notes ring out. There is no hurry.
Ten small invitations.
Grains
Invite the fragments in. A trace, a cloud, a gathering.
Fragment
Short flecks or longer threads.
Ghost
Lift the cloud into a shimmer, or let it sink into a lower voice.
Rate
A gentle scattering or a busy rush.
Accent
Give the grains a little pulse and emphasis.
Distance
Reach further back into the sound.
Size
Open the room around it.
Decay
Let the space linger.
Spread
Gather the grains closer, or let them wander across the stereo field.
Mix
Bring the reverb forward, or let the sound stay near.
Carve with your hand.
In Grains, sweep sideways to reach through the sound, and upwards to bring more fragments into the cloud.
In Filter, sweep sideways between shadow and brightness. Move upwards to bring out a ringing edge.
Give it an orbit.
Hold a gauge, or right-click it, and invite the pink or green Orbit to move it. A small amount gives a gentle sway. Turn the other way to reverse the movement.
Free lets an Orbit wander in its own time. Sync lets it dance with the beat. Let one Orbit move the other for a path that keeps changing.
Keep what catches you.
Use the preset menu to save a discovery or export it to share. Choose Calm, Expressive or Still for the view.
Turn slowly. Leave space. Trust your ears.
